Vivekananda who was not a Brahmin himself by birth, makes an
impassioned appeal for the restoration of the original four Varna
system by merging all the sub castes in the respective major caste.
In this connection, the treatment
meted Out to the Harijans by the so called caste Hindus, deserves
special mention. For centuries together these poor people have been
given a treatment which even the brutes do not deserve ! It is a
wonder how they have continued to remain as part of the Hindu
society in spite of the crimes and atrocities committed against them
! It is very urgent that the efforts of great men from Ramanuja to
Gandhi should not go in vain. |
