| Nothing can
take the place of work. Without work, there is really nothing to live for, and at the end
of an idle day, instead of relief and peace, restiveness and remorse, accompanied even by
a wish for death overcome one. Because without work, life is not worth living. And
Without work there is no fulfillment. O glorious
work! O noblest and redemp- tive work! Thou art the spark of life, thou art journey
to eternity, thou art prayer in crystallization and love in action! Thou art the star in
the night, the sun in the day, and the rainfall on the parched earth! Without thee,
no human life is meaningful, and with thee every human being can be filled with
purpose. Work is atonement, work is purification, work is enlightenment, work is
realization! Work is the bridge through which the human is transformed into the divine,
the part is integrated into the whole, and the limited turned into infinite and the
temporary becomes everlasting. Work is the fulfillment of faith in God. Work is
obedience to God. This is the trune meaning of work. |
