THE TRUE MEANING OF WORK |
|
|
| For one who
knows the true meaning of work, he regards his work, is it ordinary or conspicuous, not
merely as a job or a profession but as a calling of utmost significance to which he
must devote all his heart and all his energy. At times, he shortens his sleep and
misses his meals in order to give due attention to his work. He works hard,
and works inces- santly, and in the intensity of his work he wishes there were
forty-eight hours in a day and fourteen days in a week. And in the concentration of his work, he feels rest and meals are
necessary but unwelcome interruptions of his work. He wishes he would not know
fatigue so that he could keep on working. He finds peace and comfort in work that he
could find in nothing else. The more devotedly he pours his energy into his work, the
greater is his joy and exultation. |
