| One can see and
touch a clock or a watch but he can do neither with time. What is time? Where is time? How
is time created and whence does it come? One can destroy a clock and ruin a watch, but he
can do neither with time. One can buy a clock and keep a watch, but he can do neither with
time. Clocks and watches can be repaired but
time cannot. Why? Because clocks and watches, however intricately made, are mere
instruments for the measurement of time, and as such they are not time it even
though they are often erroneously identified with time. Clocks and watches are made by
man, but time is not. We live by time, we sleep and eat by time, and we depend, on
time for our work and rest. |
