PROLOGUE TO PART III

The following essay on " Mysticism, Nature, and Morality " was written several  years ago. The author is, at present, unable to recall the exact year of the production, but he does remember that it was written shortly after he heard a stirring lecture on mysticism from a visiting professor at the University of Washington.

The author might have written the essay in  any event, but the lecture he heard had definitely the effect of hastening his action in putting together his thoughts on the subject and in crystallizing them in written form. The author remembers that the essey was written in one sitting and without any labour of research or the assistance of notes of  any kind. It is largely a work of intuition and personal assessment of a rather uncommon but vitally significant subject.
