FUN VERSUS JOY

Few words are as often used and abused as the word "fun", and no idea appears to be more popular than the idea of fun in this mid-twentieth century. When people part, very often the words "have fun, don't work  too hard" are uttered. Even a diligent and conscientious worker refers to his hard work with the expression " It's fun " Children are told. " It's fun to study ".

Little wonder entertainment is no longer a matter for only special festivals, holidays or weekends. There is entertainment any day, every day, even every hour. Comedies and comedians are most popular. Anything for a laugh. It's fun! What's wrong with it!  Life is too short to be always burdened with care. Have fun, live a little, be good to yourself! The pursuit of fun has become the goal of life.
