This
book contains the series of lecture delivered by me some years. back under two Endowments
of the University of Madras, namely the K. Krishnaswamy Rao Endowment and the
L.Venkataratnam Endowment. According to the terms of these Endowments the lectures have,
to relate to the study of our Hindu scriptures and classics. The first series of lectures
dealt with the Fundamental Aspirations of Man
according to Hindu Thought. The second related to Humani tarian Ideals as embodied in our
religious literature. They are now published under the, common title of Hindu Ideals.
