HUMANITARIAN IDEALS

Replied the Angel: Abu spoke more low But cheerily still and said 'I pray thee then Write me as one that loves his fellow-men'
The angel wrote and vanished. The next night                                                               It came again with awaking light              And showed the names of whom love of God had blessed.                                         And lo! Ben Adam's name led all the rest.

Again Samuel Taylor Coleridge says as follows in his The Ancient Mariner

Farewell, farewell, but this I tell                 To thee, thou Wedding-Guest,                 He prayeth well who loveth well                   Both man and bird and beast.                    He prayeth best that loveth best                All things both great and small;                Nor the dear God who loveth us,              He made and loveth all.
