Dialogue between Kapila and Devahooti
This religion of love has been expounded in the third skandha of Srimad Bhagavatham in the
dialogue between Kapila and his mother Devahoothi. In this dialogue, Kapila mentions the
dharmas that should be actually followed by a good person. He who has been described as an
Avatar of Lord Vishnu on devotion to God lays special emphasis. According to him, devotion
to God should not merely be confined to the worshipping the image in the temples, but
should be extended to the worshipping of the Lord who is present in every human being,
nay, in every being in the world. One who worships
the Lord's image at the temple abandoning Him who resides in all beings as Ishwara is like
one who performs oblations in ashes." The Lord will cause intense fear in the form of
death to those who make difference between oneself and others." Hence, Kapila
concludes by saying that every one should worship the Lord who has taken His abode
in every human being by giving charity, and showing respect and love to one's fellow men.
