The Call of Swami Vivekananda
Having understood the great humanitarian ideals emphasized by our ancient Indian classics
and realised the true spirit of Indian spiritual thought, Swami Viveka- nanda eloquently
preached to his country - men the doctrine of the religion of service. He founded the Sri
Ramakrishna Mission in which the members of the Order while adopting the life of Sanyasis
viz.sacrificing their family and other material desires, still engage themselves in active
service for the sake of the poor. Whenever
necessity arises in our country for extending relief to the poor on account of famine,
cyclone or other calamities, the members of the Order of the Ramakrishna Mission come
forward and do dis- interested work and service. |
