On the west of the Sobhanagiri there is a huge tank called Varaha Pushkarani, which is nearly a hundred acres in extent.
On the eastern edge of this Pushkarani a Koneru was constructed with regular steps on its four sides, with a beautiful small Mantapam in between.
The Koneru is two furlongs by three furlongs. Pilgrims who attend the Maghotsavam have their bath in this every year.
It has always been the convention to bring water from this tank to the temple for the worship of the Lord, which is known as Bindi Tirtham.
The tank is also being used for Teppa Tirunalla thrice a year in Kartika, Magha and Phalguna when a floating car is taken round the temples with great public enthusiasm.
There is a popular legend about this Varaha Pushkarani, that Lord Vishnuduring the period of his third incarnation as Adi Varaha dug this and hence it is named after Lord Vishnu in his Varahavatara.
