Temples And Legends Of Tamilnadu Page5

Monthly Panchaparva festivals are conducted for Sri Parthasarathy, viz., first of every Tamil month, two Ekadasis, Full and New Moon days, besides Rohini and Sravana Nakshatrams. The Brahma Utsavam is celebrated every year in the month of Chittirai (April-May) and the procession of the deity is conducted both morning and evening, seated. On the costly gold-plated Vahanams.

There is a separate shrine within the main shrine for Sri Ranganatha who is reposing on Adi Sesha facing east and with his consorts and with Brahma in the navel. There are two other images in that shrine; one is Sri Narasimha and the other is Sri Varaha, facing each other north and south. Sri Tellia-Singa-Perumal (Sri Narasimha- swamy) is also worshipped in this temple, facing west, behind Sri Parthasarathy shrine. Sri Chakravarti Tirumagan (Sri Rama) with his brother’s Bharata, Shatrughna, Lakshmana, and his consort Maithili, gave darsan to Maduman Maharshi who did penance at Vrindaranya.
