Temples And Legends Of Tamilnadu Page10

Now it was a long time since the Trinity had left their holy abode. So the Devis became anxious about them. Narada again appeared before the Devis, Lakshmi, Parvati and Saraswati, and related to them what had happened to their lords. The Devis in tears begged of Narada to help them to regain their husbands. Narada suggested: "You have to no to Jnanaranya and beg of that chaste lady Mangalya Bhiksha. If she is pleased with your prayer, she can make your husbands resume their original forms. There is no other way but this". Narada then left them. The Devis accordingly appeared before Anasuya.

Anasuya did not know that they were the Devis of the Trimurtis. However, welcoming them to her humble hut, she wished to know what she could do for them. The Devis told her that they missed their husbands and wanted to have them back. Anasuya now understood that the three babies in the cradles were the three Gods, Brahma, Vishnu and Maheswara. She showed them the cradles where the babies were lying.
