Gour Das Basak
had commented that Omrao Gir Gossain, the then Mahant had also given two valuable Tibetan
manuscripts for being preserved in the Archives of the Asiatic Society of Bengal.
Gour Das Basak saw four sanads issued in the name of Puran Gir Gossain. He also saw
a permit to Puran Gir Gossain for donation of 10 bighas and 8 kathas of land. The first
sanad is dated 12th June 1778 and the second is dated the 11th February 1782.
The other two sanads appear to be copies of the first two sanads as
they are of the same date.
But they mention the vendee as Lama Panchen Ardani Bukdeo
Panchen. The third and the fourth sanads have got the seal of the East India Company
as the Diwan with the signature of Warren Hastings.
