The gopuram of the
Sri Ramalingeswara- swamy temple, is not merely massive, but is also built with a great
deal of attention and care. It has been chiseled and polished with such attention, that
the totality of the impression that it creates is something majestic and magnificent. The
Kaifiat records that a sculptor by name Yellanchari was brought all the way from Benaras
in order to do the work thoroughly.
