then goes on to mention as to how the temple, which thus fell into decay, was renovated.
The legend runs as follows.
In the Chandra Vamsa,
there was a king called Pururavas. On account of his devotion and worship of Lord Brahma,
he got as a boon a Pushpaka Vimana in which he was wandering all over the world. During
his tours he came to mount Kailasa, the residence of Lord Siva with its pleasing gardens,
refreshing spray of waters, and beautiful trees. KingPururavas, being enchanted with the
beauty of the place, went there and sat on a boulder. Urvashi, one of the Apsaras who was
then coming to Lord Siva's temple, saw Pururavas. And fell in love with him. The king also
fell in love with her and they remained there for a number of years. After some time
Pururavas and Urvashi got into the Pushpaka Vimana, and went south, where the king pointed
out to Urvashi, the beautiful Simhadri hill, with its pleasing sight of trees and fields.
They both became enamoured of the hill, and landed there. Urvashi and Pururavas thereupon
decided to spend the rest of their lives there. Since they were so much taken up with the
beauty of the place.
