"narayanaya nama ity-ayameva satyah
samsara-ghora-visa-samharanaya mantrah,
srnvantu bhavyamatayo yatayo'staraga
uccaistaram upadisamy-aham urdhva bahuh.
The expression acyutah (100, 318), occurring twice, means 'He who was not, is not, and will not be shaken from His own glory'; 'He who is free from the six fold modification of being'; purusottamah (24), the supreme person: in the Bhagavad-Gita the Lord declares, "Because I am above the perishable and the imperishable as well, I am known in the world and in the Veda as Purusottama"; padmanabhah (48, 196, 346) is mentioned three times, meaning 'He who has the lotus symbolizing the source of the universe in his navel', 'whose navel is like the lotus, or who shines in the centre of the heart-lotus', 'who is seated in the pericarp of Me lotus'; hrsikesah (47) 'the Lord of the senses, or the supreme Self in whose control the senses are'; harih (650), 'He who destroys samsara along with its cause.'
