From
this it would appear that the main teaching of Krishna is the
performance of karma. Loka manya Bal Gangadhar Tilak has expounded the
Gita as the Gospel of Work. The Lord's words also seem to support this
view. He says again and again: "Fight that is your dharma. Every
one should stick to' his dharma."
Svakarmaana tamabhyarchya
"
Worshipping God by due observance of one’s
karma."
Here the word
Yagna has been understood to mean Lord Vishnu Himself, the supreme is
also taken to mean 'sacrifice.' 'Do your karma with the consciousness that there is God
and dedicate what you do to Him’.
All this would indicate that the Gita gives
Predominance to karma only.
But, there are passages in the Gita with a
contrary import.
‘Tooshneem kinchidachintayan’
'Do not think of anything; sit down holding Your breath'.
