The Religion
of Truth
Just as there is only One Truth, there is only one true religion, which is the religion of
Truth. Everything apart from Truth is not a religion in the real sense of the world-that
is, not a means of linking with what is Real-but a form of ignorance or illusion, though
it may have some preliminary value or contain useful practices.
Truth is the only true religion. In this regard Truth is even greater than God. If one has
to choose between truth and God, one should choose Truth, because even God has to bow down
before Truth. God may only be an idea, a concept, or sometimes merely a name or prejudice
invented by the human mind, but Truth is the reality that we cannot ignore. The truth of
who we are something that we cannot escape.
The true religion is Truth, but what we call religion is not always truth. In this regard
all religious teachings should be put to the test of Truth and only what survives that
test should be concentrated on, with the rest discarded as inessential. This will allow us
to create a religion for all of humanity that is free from illusion and exploitation. In
this regard, we should hold to the Truth, even if it requires letting go of what may
commonly be regarded as religion. |
