PARIKSHIT

Hearing the poem day after day Parikshit gradually overcame his fear of death and became a realised soul or gnani.

Among those who wanted to see the king at the retreat was a brahmin called Kashyapa. He was a famous physician. He could cure without fail people from snakebite. He went to see the king to save him from snake poisoning when it affected him and earn a big reward.

Takshaka is the king of snakes. Learning about this brahmin's intention, he took the form of a rich man and met Kashyapa on  the way. He said to the brahmin. "I shall give you several times the reward which the king may give you for saving him. Here,
take this bundle of gold coins and return home!"
