HIGHEST VIRTUES

The language of Srimad Bhagavatam which is written in Sanskrit is rather tough. It is difficult to understand it fully without  the help of commentaries, of which there are quite a number, and the most famous among them is one written by Sridhara  Swami.

Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya, a great Sanskrit scholar and national leader said, "I have great love for Srimad Bhagavatam.  It is my conviction and experience that by reciting and listening to it one comes to know the reality of God and develops unflinching devotion to His lotus feet."

Years after, a Kerala poet named Narayana Bhattathiri summarised the Bhagavatam into a thousand verses and called it Narayaneeyam. He sang them before the Lord of Guruvayur, Krishna, and was cured of his fell disease!
