VIDYARANYA

He taught him all the eight siddhis by which one becomes a yogi. By means of these siddhis one can become invisible like air and heavy like a mountain. There is nothing that a yogi cannot do. After teaching all this knowledge Vyasa disappeared.

Accompanied by Sringi, Vidyaranya returned to the Vindhyas and stayed near Hampi on the banks of the River Tungabhadra, worshipping at the famous temple of God Virupaksha.

One day God Virupaksha or Siva appeared before the saint and said: "Erect around this place a new city and call it Vijayanagar."

While Vidyaryanya was thinking how to fulfil the God’s command, two wealthy brothers, Sayana and Madhava came to see him.

They fell at his feet and prayed: "Holy one! We are rich but childless; please bless us that we may get children."
