MARCUS AURELIUS

He kept the image always with him. He started a home for orphan girls in her memory.

Marcus thus built up his empire and put it on a strong foundation. He died at the age of fifty-nine as courageously and as calmly as he had lived.

Marcus Aurelius was thus not only a great soldier and emperor but also a philosopher. He was a scholar and poet besides.

He searched his heart and wrote out his wise thoughts in a book called the Meditations, which is famous even today. It contains many noble thoughts and has been translated into many languages.

Marcus Aurelius believed that God is one, and he tried to unite the world into one human family and make the law the same for all.
