NAMDEO

Namdeo did so.

When, however, he offered naivedya to Clod Vithal; Vithal would not eat it! Would a stone idol eat?

But Namdeo was a boy. He thought that, like us all, images too would eat.

So Namdeo, said to the God: "God,please eat this food, or my father will beat me."

Young Namdeo begged the God several times to eat the food, with tears in his eyes. Still the image did not eat.

At last Namdeo became desperate. He took out his dhoti, rolled it into a sort of cord and tying it round his neck, tried to strangle himself to death.

Seeing this, God Vithal took pity upon the boy, and ate up all the food he gave!
