THE KUMBHA MELA

Vasuki was the King of snakes. He was very strong, and was also long enough to be used as a rope.

Now that they found a rod and a rope, the Devas and Asuras started to churn the sea of milk.

The Asuras held the head of Vasuki. The Devas held the tail end. And so they churned the sea.

Many rare and precious things came out of the churning.

At last the amrita also came. The angel Dhanvantari brought it in a kumbha. 'Kumbha' in Sanskrit means pot.

He gave the pot to Jayanta.
