SAVITRI

Satyavan, his son, was a handsome and noble-minded prince. Savitri fell in love with him. She decided to marry him.

When she returned home, Savitri told her father about her choice of husband.

At that moment rishi Narada was with her father.

The rishi remarked: "Satyavan is a noble lad; but I am very sorry for him!"

Aswapati enquired with a trace of anxiety, "Why do you say

The rishi answered: "The stars say that the boy will die in just one year from now!"

Aswapati felt sad. He asked his daughter: "Savitri, did you hear what the rishi said? Now choose another equally good, prince as your husband."

Savitri said: "Father, one can love only once, just as one can die only once. I cannot change my decision!"

The rishi said, "Since Savitri has made up her mind, allow her to marry Satyavan. God will take care of them."
