PRAYAG

At Prayag the waters of the Ganga appear white, and those of the Yamuna blue. You can clearly see the line of demarcation.

Poet Kalidasa describes this junction as a mixing of pearls and emeralds.

The river Saraswati, however, joins the other two from below the earth. It is not seen on the surface.

God Vishnu is worshipped in this kshetra as Bindu Madhava.

Rishi Bharadwaja had his ashrama here. Sri Rama came to his ashrama while living in the forest.

Pious men who go to this kshetra bathe at the Sangam.

Holy Brahmins of the kshetra pitch their tents on the sand, or stay mid-stream on boats, and help pilgrims in their worship.
