DATTATREYA

Mother Anasuya, wife of Rishi Atri, alone is such a woman. " All the gods went to Rishi Atri's ashrama, and begged of Anasuya to make the sun rise.

Anasuya agreed. She went to Sandili and told her, "Child, at your request, the sun does not rise. Do you know how much the world suffers without the sun? Will you not ask the sun to come out again, for thesake of the suffering world?"

Sandili said, "Mother, the rishi has cursed my husband.

If I ask the sun to rise, my husband will die. What will happen to me then?"

Anasuya said, "Child, do not worry. I shall give back your husband's life."

Sandili then asked the sun to come out.
