AGASTYA

As usual Ilvala served the magic food, and Agastya ate it.

Ilvala called out the name of Vatapi. Agastya then suspected what the trick was. So he touched his belly and uttered a mantra. At once Vatapi was digested in his stomach like any other food, and waskilled. So he never came out. Agastya then killed Ilvala too by a single glance.

When Sri Rama lived in a forest, as an exile, Agastya gave him many powerful weapons by the power of his mantra, He taught Rama the prayer Aditya-hridaya. Rama repeated this and prayed to the 'Sun -god three times.
