VASISHTHA

Vasishtha built an ashrama near Ayodhya. He lived there with his wife Arundhati.

Vasishtha completely overcame anger by his tapas.

As Brahma foretold, God was born as Rama. Rama became King of Ayodhya. Vasishtha served him as a guru and minister.

Once a great famine gripped the country. By the power of his tapas, Vasishtha brought plenty of rain. He made the people happy.

There lived a king called Viswamitra at that time.

Once Rishi Vasishtha defeated him, by the power of his tapas.

Viswamitra became very angry. He went to the Himalayas to gain strength by tapas. He returned very strong.
