VASISHTHA

Rishi Vasishtha, was a son of Brahma.

He was learned in the sastras.

Brahma said to him one day, "Son, will you become the family priest of kings? You can become rich!

Vasishtha replied, "Father, I have no desire for money."

Brahma then said, "'Listen. God Vishnu will be born in the family of the kings of Ayodhya. By serving them you will serve God."

Vasishtha replied, "In that case, I agree."

Thus Vasishtha became a royal priest.

Great kings ruled in Ayodhya.
