His father
Jankinath Bose was a lawyer by profession and his mother was a stern disciplinarian.
Bose had his early education in the Baptist Mission and Ravensha Collegiate schools of
Cuttack.
At school, he was always serious,reserved and did not take much interest in sports. The
sadhus and pilgrims visiting Puri,
the famous shrine near his place, fascinated him.
Besides this, social service and secret societies operating from Bengal attracted him.
When he was fifteen years old, Subhas read the writings and. speeches of Swami Vivekananda
and he become greatly
interested in the teachings of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa too. |
