| When Andal heard
from her father the Lord's command, her divine love for the Lord grew more and more. Girls in those days observed the Katyayani Vrata in the month of
Margaseersh. It is the worship of Goddess Katyayani for early marriage with suitable
bridegrooms.
Andal observed this Vrata. She and her girl friends bathed in
the river early in the
morning and sang the praise of the Lord.
Andal prayed to the god of love, Kama, too to unite her with the Lord.
Vishnuchitta who noticed it all felt that it was unnatural for
a human girl to marry God. So he tried to interest her in marriage
With a suitable man. But Andal refused to listen to the suggestion. |
