THE GITA WAY

'Lodge your breath in your head and meditate on the nature of the Supreme'.

‘Yah sarvatraanabhisnehah tattat praapya subhaasubham naabhinandati na dveshti tasya prajnaa pratishtitaa.’

And

‘Yastvaatmaratireva syaat aatmatruptascha maanavah aatmanyeva cha santusthtah tasya kaaryam na vidyate.’

These verses say that for him, whose mind is controlled, there is no thought, or speech, no sight or hearing. For him who is in samaadhi there is no thing to do-tasya kaaryamana vidyate.

Again, the Lord says: Do not live amidst crowds. Seek a secluded spot. Go to the solitude of a mountain or a forest. Do not talk to any one. Thus too does the Lord teach.

If one should I've far away from human haunts, how to fight then? How reconcile the command to light with seeking solitude. ‘But the Lord says this and that too'

In another place He says:    Vasudeva a sarvamiti. He praises the rare souls who see the same Supreme Being in all things.

'Sit alone; do not eat too much. He who eats much cannot perform yoga: nastysanatastu yogah. But do not starve yourself: nachaikaantamanasnatah.'
