All Hindus are brothers : Seshadri

It is wellknown that the RSS has, since its very inception, pledged itself to reorganise the Hindu society on a harmonious and integrated basis. This is precisely what the RSS means by Hindu sangathan. In other words, sangathan implies social harmony and unity amidst diversify. No social organisation is possible on the basis of social discrimination and fissiparous divisions. It is common knowledge that the old social systems based on varna and caste have become outdated and irrelevant. Untouchability is also on the wane. It is noteworthy that the dharmacharyas of all sects and faiths, under the auspices of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, have unambiguously declared that untouchability has no sanction of our Dharma. Hindavah sodarah sarve (i.e. all Hindus are brothers) is their historical proclamation. Nor was this a mere verbal proclamation. it was put into practice by them. This was made amply clear when one of our Scheduled Caste brethren placed the first foundational brick of the Ram Mandir at Ayodhya amidst the chanting of the Vedic mantras; and many dharmacharyas and even a Shankaracharya went to the deeksha bhoomi and garlanded the statue of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar at Nagpur. Can there be any doubt that this symbolises the advent of a new era of social awakening?

It has been our repeated experience that wherever there has been a powerful Hindu awakening, the differences of caste, creed, language, province, etc, get dissolved and the people are infused with the genuine spirit of nationalism. It is precisely by adopting this means that the RSS has succeeded in creating a countrywide atmosphere of social harmony. But the tragedy is that where on the one hand, efforts for ensuring social harmony and amity are being vigorously pursued, on the other hand some of our own people, for their own narrow political ends, are fomenting tension and dissention in the social fabric by provoking caste feelings. We should caution our people to beware of such attempts to disrupt and weaken our Hindu society.

We are well aware how revered Shri Balasaheb Deoras, our third Sarsanghchalak, never tired of emphasizing the paramount need for social harmony. His proclamation that "if untouchability is not a sin, there is no sin in this world", is engraved in all our hearts.

I appeal to all our swayamsevak brothers to try to ensure that every single shakha and every single swayamsevak becomes an effective medium of social transformation and towards this end our projects of service, health, literacy, and samskaras, expand rapidly. This will indeed be the real tribute to the hallowed memory of the late Balasaheb.

On the occasion of revered Shri Balasaheb's first monthly shraddha, let us all vow to rid our Hindu Samaj of all disintegrating tendencies of caste, creed, sect, language and province, etc. Let us intensify our efforts to build a harmonious and integrated social structure and thus set at naught all strategies and conspiracies bent upon sowing seeds of social discord and disunity. I urge all individuals and institutions having the good of Hindu Samaj at heart to come forward in their full measure to further this great endeavour of social regeneration.
